During this last weekend I was able to take a trip down to Katy, TX - a suburb of the sprawling Houston Metroplex - and hang out with my Tom & Jackie Elmore and my friends from THRIVE Church! They are in a series called "Super Power: What's Yours?" and I had the opportunity to speak to the church on the topic of sacrifice and servanthood! It was a TON of fun and the people there were SO friendly! Their stage set up was SWEET and got me thinking about what else we can do to raise our Sunday Morning presentation to the next level! (I also enjoyed some genuine Texas BBQ while I was there!)
Of course every time that you get around another leader, it gets you thinking about the areas in your own life and ministry that you need to grow in. Here are a few bullet points that we need to start addressing so that we can continue to reach more people in our area!
- We need to start thinking about a stage! Their stage was so impressive, and it really made them feel legitimate as a portable church!
- We need to update some of our signage! Their signage was really well done, and again, it just made them feel so professional - even for a portable church situation!
- We need to help train our lay leaders better! This is something that I have been feeling for several weeks, and talking with our staff about how we do that, but we need to have more opportunities for our volunteer leaders of teams to receive training and growth!
- Been talking with several pastors in our network who think we should open a second campus in Buffalo... praying about what God would want us to do with something like that! Thoughts?
